Easy quick fix: Pull it out from under the desk! I did that, and I saw a 10C drop at CPU core, ambient temps at 30C during summer and 11C during winter.( Crappy insulation on the top floor) Just do this, and if the temps dont drop. Well, then buy a new HS/F for ur system.

ok, let's do the math, 44 idle and 52 load. That's only a delta of 8c. My watercooling gives me a delta of about 5 to 6c on load vs idle. Your temperature under the desk is just too high. At 37c the delta is only 7c at idle and 15c loaded. I say the BT is doing a great job.

please post indicated amb temperatures and idle temperatures.

it's more important on an hsf that its thermal c/w (e.g. rise above idle) is low rather the overall net affect, which has outside factors including amb temperatures (high in your case), poor airflow (does not apply to you).

Hey there ST. OK here are the temps per your request:

Ambient room temp (texas, no a/c on today): 83F / 28c
Temperature under desk (where computer resides: 98F / 37c
CPU Idle temperature: 44c
MB temperature: 39c
CPU load temperature: 52c (100%, both cores - folding @ home & UD)

Hope that helps!

That is a huge factor. My room temp is probably close to 20 F lower than yours.
Holy cow. Where do you live?

Ha, but then I'd have to listen to it! 5 Hard Drives, 2 exahust 90mm fans, 1 90mm fan across my raid, a 120mm intake fan and of course the typhoon fan on top of the 2 fans in my PS. Doh!
