hello this is my first post here
To be short, winXP pro sp2 detect only one core of my X2 and run only with "standard PC" HAL.
i have the latest stable bios (1009) and the latest cpu/mobo drivers.
the full story : i have updated my pc by changing the motherboard (k8v/kt800 -> asus a8n-sli premium) the cpu (3000+ -> X2 3800+) the CG (9800pro -> 7800gt) and the ddr (1gb PC3200 -> 2gb PC4000).
Because i'm keeping my windows installation i have changed my cpu to "standard PC" in the device manager and followed the process described here : http://www.ngohq.com/home.php?page=Articles&go=read&arc_id=36
After booting the new pc i had a lot of trouble, usbs didn't worked, the optical drives had some trouble refreshing and i could not change my cpu to ACPI monocore or multicore, i had two "standard pc" at this point...then i have installed/uninstalled the chipset and cpu drivers many times and tried a lot of things and still no luck.
So i decided to repair my windows installation using a slipstreamed winXP pro sp2 ... and after the reboot, BSOD while loading
i have tried again but this time forcing (using f5) ACPI Multiprocessor PC and ... BSOD
then again using ACPI Uniprocessor PC ... BSOD
and Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC ... BSOD
so finally i chose standard PC, and that worked fine but still only one core is detected - one standard PC now, the optical drives don't refresh.. only the USBs are back to normal.
i'm totally stuck :/
btw cpu-z give the right info about the cpu and comfirm that i'm using the "Asus a8n-sli premium ACPI bios revision 1009"
