Big trouble for PS2 Launch !!!

I was talking to my cousin (an asst. manager at EB) about getting a PS2 and he told me some shocking news. Apperently Sony was supposes to release 1,000,000 units of the PS2 for all of North America (Canada, US & Mexico) on the launch date of Oct. 26th. He was told by his Sony rep that they will only be releasing 500,000 units on launch. He has been calling all of his deposit customers to tell them that they may not be able to get thier PS2. Needless to say I feel sorry for my cousin (because he's getting sh!t from the customers) & PS2 pre-order owners (who expect a machine by placing a deposit)

So basically if you don't have a deposit on a machine (from whoever) then you probably will not get a machine until after Christmas

i've heard this before (in this forum i think) and i don't know if that's true because i spoke to the manager of my local k-mart and he said that they have a garunteed shipment of 500 units i don't know why so little but there's no preorder so it's first come first served andf you better belive im gonna be the first guy inline!

Oh yeah that isn't the only problem. Supposedly the first generation Playstaion 2's have bugs in them but that's just a rumor that I heard.

Some of the Babbages stores are asking their employees to give up their PS2's that they pre-ordered so there can be more available to the public. Now here's the kicker: if an employee does do that, Babbages will give them (hold on to you hats folks) a $15 dollar store credit!. Sh*t with $15 bucks you can't even get a greatest hits game.
