A full breakdown:

Here is my rig:
Tyan Tiger MP rev A flashed to bios 1.03
2x thermoengine cpu hs
2x 512 nanya registered ecc (total 1 gig)
2x athlon 1.2 mp
radeon le 32 ddr
sound blaster live value
3com 905c
viewsonic pf790-2
plextor 24/10/40 flashed to latest bios
logitech kb/optical mouse using ps2 ports
ibm 7200 75 gig hd.
floppy drive
550 watt enermax

Here are my problems:
1. Sometimes the computer gets stuck at the boot screen right after it says "mouse initialized".
2. Sometimes when I push f2 to get into the bios, it hangs
3. Sometims when loading w2k, it will go through the black boot screen with the white bar at the bottom just fine, then which the windows 2000 professional splash screen comes up, it hangs before the blue bar at the bottom moves at all.
4. When burning CD's on the plextor 24/10/40, the first CD will burn fine at 24x, then all subsequent CD's will not burn at all and will hang just before finalizing
5. When I select restart from the shut down menu, the computer will attemp to restart and then not even post.

Here is what I've tried to fix the problems but didn't help:
1. Update all the drivers for everything
2. Move the RAM to different slots
3. Remove one stick of ram, then try with other stick of ram
4. Remove plextor
5. Remove sblive value
6. Remove radeon
7. Swap mobo
8. replace 400 watt sparkle with 550 watt enermax
9. Remove network card
10. Move pci slots to different positions
11. flash bios of mobo to 1.03
12. flash bios of plextor to latest one

I am at a loss of what the problem could be. The only thing left would be to replace the HD. Any other ideas?

Are you sure you have your DIMMs in all the way? That seems to be about 99.9999% of the people who are reporting problems with this board.

Just a suggestion, but well-worth trying.

Good luck!

blstriker,

Maybe you'll find somethin else here. It's all I got. Some restarting issues seem to be nic or modem related and covered in Tyan's FAQ. FWIW, there's a link to the FAQ in the other link I just referred you to. 😕
