Googling isn't helping...

I wanna watch Ohio State this Saturday at noon, but it's on the Big Ten Network. Does Comcast even have it yet? I can't find any current updates....

Seriously, your local watering hole is made for these situations. Yeah, I get to crowd in with around 500 of my closest friends but at least I get to see the game and pay for overpriced beer. :D

I wish the F'ing Big Ten Network would go away. Why should I have to pay for something that I got for free every other year up until now. It should be for showng Out of Area games and let me get my own home game on a normal channel. I have to miss some games this year because otherwise I'd have to pay money to watch my own team play. What a crock of #@&$^.

Don't worry.. The SEC Network is a looming joint venture of the SEC and Comcast.

The way I understood it, Comcast wanted the channel to be a part of the pay sports package, while The Big Ten wanted every Comcast subscriber to pay $1 per month for the channel. Frankly, I'm with Comcast on this one, I don't want to pay for a channel I don't want - though I really wish I could ditch more channels I don't want...

This channel shouldn't exist in the first place. Leave the local programming alone. Offer a PPV package to those who want it. Or better yet, a *LOW* PPV rate per game. Like $5 or less.... I hope they all choke on their money....

That would be fine, if I wasn't "working" at that time... *sigh* I do IT for a bank and we're single staffed on the weekends. I just bought a nice tuner card for my laptop for OTA, and have Orb set up at home for when it's on ESPN.

Dammit. I like my On Demand service too much to switch to a dish... Rotten SOBs...

Yeah, amazingly enough Comcast is on the right side of this one. I have Dish Network and sent them a note saying that I don't want Big Ten Network and asking them not to cave in on it, and of course 3 days later they announced they were going to carry it.

Admittedly I've watched a couple games on it now, but they were games that would have been available for free without Big Ten Network.

And that's the key right there.

I actually saw a TIme Warner commercial giving backlash to the BTN. THey said they weren't carrying it because they believe that you shoudl be able to watch the games for free lik we have been able to for years up until now. I just with the Big Ten would realize they are alienating lots of their fans and drop the whole thing.

It's a fine idea if I want to watch Big Ten games that are outside my normal viewing area, but don't make me pay to watch my own team play. That's just stupid.

Our cable company (the city runs/is our cable system) picked up the BTN... without (to my knowledge) asking if we wanted them to.

I've watched a few things on it... but nothing that I wouldn't have been able to see on ESPN+3LocalA... or whatever used to show local games that weren't prime / sub-prime / sub-sub-prime. :)

I'll have to look closely at the next bill to see if they upped the cost of cable. (the cable bill comes mixed in with the electric and water bill, since they all come from the city)

I can't believe that they did this crap without putting something in place for watching via the internet, or something... I guess they just know they have us over a barrel.

There is good possibility that the Michigan - Michigan State game will not be available to the 1.3 million viewers in Michigan that have Comcast because Wisconsin is playing Ohio State at the same time so ABC will probably pick up that game.

What I don't understand is I thought the hierarchy was ABC>ESPN>BTN, but today ABC is showing Ohio vs. EMU

wtf?

Does ABC think this game will have more viewership than Michigan vs. Purdue?

It's just BS. A spit in the eye to the fans. I wish there was more that we could do. : /
