Big Star Wars problem

glen

Lifer
I have seen PM and ATC a few times, and I think there is a problem:
Since we all know Episodes 4,5, and 6, we can follow the story fairly well.
But, I think there must a be a ton going on in PM and ATC that I don't knwo about.
If someone had read all the books spanning from PM to ATC to Revenge, wouldn't they know a lot more detail.
Are there cliff's notes or what?
Let me give an example of one of the many problems:
In PM Yoda says don't train Anakin.
next thing you know, Obi Wan has trained him anyway, and the Jedi council is ok with it like it never happened and he can be a jedi now.
Another problem, the clones.
Who ordered them, what is the deal?

You must have missed the last 5-10mins of TPM every time you have watched it. The council grants Obi-wan the ability to train Anakin, just not everyone likes it.
I can't remember if it's in Labyrinth of Evil or Revenge of the Sith but you do find out who ordered the Clone troopers.

Oh yeah, they do..but are not there some holes the books fill out?

Gimme a min, I'm trying to remember. It's been a while since I read them, always get them the day they come out.

After careful concideration I have come to the conclusion that no, reading the books probably won't help you that much but if you are bored go for it.

really?
I thought PM and ATC really really jumped around.

Truth be told I couldn't find my books, I must have lent them to my little brother.

I've only read the novels between TPM and ATC and they really only focused on specific "battles" so to speak. If you want more of what happened between the movies you'll probably have to read the young adult novels/series.

No sh!t.
I guess the real nerds are getting laid or standing in line getting tickets.

So, what was teh deal with Darth maul anyway?
Just how badass was he?
And, are we supposed to know who his replacement is yet?

Darth Maul = exactly 30% as badass as Darth Vader in The Empire Strikes Back.

gd man, just go get the freaking book.

There is an entire book(novel) devoted to Darl Maul. I will tell you that according to it he was not 100% when he fault Qui-gon and Obi-wan.

I did. I got Revenge, then I decided i need to read the one before, so i got Labirynth, and then I thought maybe I should go back one more...where does it end?

On a related note, has the inconsistency ever been explained where Obi-Wan told Luke to find Yoda, the Jedi who trained him, but we now know that it was Qui-Gonn who actually trained Obi-Wan?

Think of Yoda as the "headmaster" if you will of the Jedi Order. Don't quote me on this but I don't think that you are actually chosen as a padwan for a master until around the age of 7. Until then you are classes, a good many of which were taught by Yoda. Also if you read the books you find that Obi-wan has always felt close to Yoda. That said, Yoda was the only other Jedi around and Obi-wan didn't want to confuse Luke with tales of Qui-gon and what not. Aka CopOut.
