Yeah, the US is in a damned if you do, damned if you don't position on most everything. It wasn't too long ago that the some foreign leaders, mainly from Africa, and celebrities were moaning that the US wasn't doing anything to help stop AIDS in Africa. Well, now President Bush has put out a call to do something and the US gets bashed for it.

Anyway, if the funds are released, some good will be done.

You do not do good to get recognition. You do it because it is the right thing. Let others believe what they will.
