Big quiet fans

"large fans" is rather vague. You need to be more accurate.

Your PC Case is made for a specific size of fan. You can't just take a case and put "bigger fans" in it.

www.performance-pcs.com et al. sells a 250 mm fan kit (which generally does over 100 CFM pretty quietly) like the one we've seen in a lot of cases recently. They also sell the 200mm fan that was first seen in the Antec 900 case. I haven't heard of anyone selling the 360mm like in some XClio cases as a separate item, but that doesn't seem to work as well as the 250s in a real-world computer case setting - needs an awful lot of venting to prevent back-pressure. There are also several 140 mm units out there. That's all I know of.

Stefx is right as far as he goes. Have nibbling tool and Dremel, will travel... 😉

I'm upgrading to an EATX board. My plan is to build a case, either out of aluminum (if I can get access to a friend's shop) or luan (if I'm working in my own little shop). In either case, the case will be designed around the fan, so pretty much anything smaller than a window fan should fit.

Thank you both for the advice.
