big problems with k7vta3 mobo

hey - i just upgraded my computer to a Athlon XP 1700+ with an ECS K7VTA3 (revision 1) mobo. The board's having a couple big problems and i was wondering if anyone here could give me a hand.. when I try to run it on the 133MHz FSB setting, the speed the processor should go at, I can only run windows at 640x480x16. anything higher and it freezes. Everything works fine on the 100MHz setting... but that's 1100MHz and I want 1466! also the AC97 codec that came with the board doesn't work.. it installs fine and doesnt seem to have any problems but no sound plays and there are no devices listed under Multimedia in control panel..

does the board sound defective to you? i've heard of people having similar issues on ECS's web site.. I have tried upgrading drivers and I have the newest BIOS..

i am using a voodoo3 2000 AGP.. anyone who has any insight, it'd be GREATLY appreciated.
