Big problems with internet after adding a switch between my pc and router

After I added a gigabit switch (ZyXEL GS-105S) between my PC and my Router (D-Link Gigabit) I have been experiencing slow to none internet connection when I have a torrent download open for example.

All remote connection windows disconnect, spotify stops playing and internet browser cannot connect. The second I quit utorrent or when utorrent is idlish, everything works perfectly.

I'm on a very good optical network (limited to 100/10mb) and have _never_ suffered problems or slowing down before I added that switch.

I'm not a network expert, but it's like I max out of connections somewhere..

Any ideas?

You did not added Just a Switch.

You added "Prioritize Multimedia Streams for Optimized Video and Online Gaming Enjoyments".

So if you need just a simple switch get yourself something like this.

Otherwise, read carefuly the manaul of the "Prioritize Multimedia Streams for Optimized Video and Online Gaming Enjoyments", and find if, and how it can provide simple through traffic ports.

Unmanaged with built in QoS, interesting. Which port are you using to connect up to the Dlink? From the diagrams, I would pick the green port to by the switch-to-switch link.

My router is connected to the green port and pc to one of the yellow. But yeah, might be that this switch will be introduced to my trash can and I'll pick up something better.

I would prefer a gigabit switch of course, any suggestions in 20-100eur price range for a gigabit switch with no fan (I hate all noise) 🙂

I cant believe this, the problem actually got resolved.

As I moved the router physically it got powered down and for some reason the d-links "gamefuel" feature was enabled in this process (some kind of traffic reshaping). I disabled it and rebooted and all the download and upload speeds went up and even when I'm on full download/upload I can surf with no lag at all. So it was not the switch after all, the problem timing just was perfect to point to that.

Thank you and sorry for the trouble. Note to self, recheck everything before wasting other peoples time :/
