Big problem with Netgear RT314 router PLEASE HELP!!!

It was working fine up to about 3 weeks ago, when it just wouldn't work one morning.
I double checked all my settings with Rogers@Home, and finally got a serial cable to *try* to get into the manager interface.
That worked, however when I tried to boost the router to serial transfer port speed to 56k like the guide recommended, it locked and I've been unable to get back into the router.
I've been plugged into the cable modem for the whole time, and it's getting out of hand.
How would I go about an RMA?
Any other things I can try?
I've practically pulled my hair out 🙁
TIA!

Odd problem. Did you try telneting to the router? Go to a dos prompt and type 'telnet 192.168.0.1' or whatever the address of the router is from your computer. This should launch the manager interface. I'm not sure if this will address your problem though because changing the serial transfer speed shouldn't have any affect how the router is operating. Did you change anything else? Here's a link to the 314 manual

The router won't take a single packet into itself no matter which port I hookup through, or which comp I use as well.
Before I had it setup to hardcode the LAN ip's (192.168.0.2, etc), but not I can't ping, telnet never connects, it's like somebody put a wooden block across it's rj45 jack 🙁 🙁 🙁

Sounds like it's kaput. If there is no way in through any computer, you're stuck. I've been in this situation before and usually I just go and purchase a new one to test it's a router issue. If the new one works I put the bad one back in the box and return it under the new receipt. Saves me from going through a replacement hassle.

Well, I just got an email from netgears tech support (just 4 hours after filing a case, VERY impressive 😀)
I'll give it a try, but I dont have high hopes at this point 🙁
