I just tried to install the 815E Pro and it will not work. System refuses to boot. I checked the diagnostic LEDs that are on the board and they read 0010 which would indicate a RAM problem. However, I have tried three know good DIMMs with no luck (All work fine in my other two systems). I have tried both PC100 and PC133 DIMMs and I've tried them each bank with the exact same result. I have removed all other hardware and tried to boot just using the onboard video with no others cards installed and I get the same problem. My CPU is a Cel566 but I have jumper on the board set to AUTO (I also tried it set to 100 for overclocking.)
I can't find anything on MSI's web site about this type of problem.

Please Help

The picture in the manual is upside down as compared to the jumper block on the board, to set it to auto you need to have the jumpers on the two upper pins.

1 |.|.|4
2 |.|.|5
3 |.|.|6

put one jumper covering pins 1 & 2
put one jumper covering pins 4 & 5

when you are looking at the board mounted in the case, pin one is the top left.

Let me know how it goes.

to set it to 66 you would have to use one jumper to cover pins 5 & 6 in my diagram, the bottom right is number six,.

Also, on mine the voltage readings in windows do not match the bios, I had a few minutes of trouble overclocking my p3 700 until I figured this out, when I set it to 1.75 in the bios it was really at 1.65 to 1.68, I have it set to 1.85 in the bios right now and it is really at 1.79 to 1.81

A little update:

I tried a PNY 64meg PC100 with the same result.

Slacker: I noticed that there are a couple of the diagrams in the Users Manual that are flipeed. I tried every setting though. The only time I got a different result is when I tried a stupid setting and then it told me I had the wrong CPU (Which I knew but I'm desperate).

I think I'm at my end. I completely unhooked everything and did every little step in slow motion to ensure I didn't make a silly mistake, "Same Result".

I had a couple of errors in my post, I fixed them, the settings should be correct now.

do you have a different cpu to try?

If it wont go with a jumper covering the bottom right pin and the pin directly above it then you may have a bad board or cpu, try it with the jumper on the bottom right pin and the pin directly above it and using the on board video with nothing else installed and see if it post's

I see that you are in Va beach, if you feel like driving up to centreville I could take a look at it for you :)

Slacker:
On my board the "Overclocking Jumpers" as they are called must be different that yours. When the board is mounted in the tower case pins are as follows:

6 |.|.| 3
5 |.|.| 2
4 |.|.| 1

But regardless I've tried every possible jumper setting and I either get the "0010 memory error" or I get the "0000 CPU error". The "0010" comes in the Auto position and the "0000" comes in most os the other positions.

I've tried two different Cel566 CPUs both of which work in my BH6 with a slocket.

Slacker:

Which Centreville do you live in? The one near DC or the one between Richmond and Charlotesville?

Both are too far to drive though. Thanks for the offer.

The way you layed them out is the way they are shown in my manual, but on my board they are reversed like I layed them out.

I am near D.C.

Not sure if this will help, but I had the exact same problem on a Soyo 6BA+IV last week. They use 4 LED's too, and at boot up all I got was the memory error light. I went bonkers for 2 days trying different sticks of ram and everything I could think of. Turns out that the Celery 366 on a slocket was the problem. I threw a P2-400 in there and it worked perfect. So if you have another slocket or another cpu lying around, try that.

I had the same problem on my BxMaster. Actually it happened twice. Turned out to be defective power supplies. (Both were Antec PP303X 300 watt). Both were exchanged instore due to the short time span(s).
