I have a Viewsonic 2025wm monitor, and I was until a while ago running the 100.65 drivers. The new drivers installed fine, but when I restarted, all I got was a blank screen. I unplugged the monitor and plugged it in again, and the screen came up, but the maximum resolution I can use is 1024x768.

Under Device Manager, the monitor is listed as a "Generic Non-PnP monitor". 100.65's worked great with this, and I don't understand why there would be a problem with the new WHQL drivers released recently. I would really like to use the newer drivers if possible, anyone know of a fix that can get this monitor working properly?

I tried using both the signed and unsigned drivers from Viewsonic's website, but they do not contain a driver for this monitor.

I have the same model monitor and a 7900 GTO, but it works fine.

I heard that nVidia is aware of some problems with monitor detection on certain GPUs (related to DVI scaling, but could conceivably affect maximum resolution) and is working to fix these issues in the next driver release. You should probably submit a problem report on their Vista driver issue page to ensure your problem is fixed in the next release.

As for what you can do now, you'll have to look for some kind of monitor driver or switch back to the 100.65 GPU drivers.

There should be a driver on the CD that came with your monitor even if you have to look through the files and folders to locate the driver. If not, then there may be a better "default" profile available through the Vista device manager's Update Driver button.

Umm, I did try that, and I noted that in the original post. Did not work.

I reverted back to 100.65 for now, they are working fine for me.
