big man small bike?

I'm looking to get my first bike. The law here says i can only ride up to 125cc until I pass the test, so I was thinking of the Honda CBR125R, but the only problem is I am 6'2" and 85kg... am I going to look like a complete idiot on this thing?

What doe's it take to pass the test? Driving test? written? Any training/saftey course required?

n/m, I looked it up

Yeah, a 125cc bike is pretty small for a guy your size. Assuming your under 21, If I were you I would take the CBT course and test using the cycle provided by the center to get your light motorcycle license, then buy a larger bike and have the manditory restrictor plate installed. If your over 21 do the DAS training and test

You have to spend a few months on a learner bike first, then its a written and practical test. No option but 125cc at this point 🙁

Any suggestions? Should I just get a scooter, and at least look like idiot who *knows* he looks like an idiot?

I'm 26 - always a car driver before.

Restricter plate? That doesn't sound much fun...

/edit:

"Riders aged 21 or over may opt to take a test on a large motorcycle. On passing the test they are immediately qualified to ride any motorcycle without restrictions. This option is called Direct Access. You must complete CBT, and if necessary, a motorcycle theory test and a practical test on a motorcycle of at least 35kW (46.6bhp)."

Ok looks like I'm allowed something larger... do you recommend this? Won't I smash it up or something? I've never ridden a bike on the road.

Yes the DAS (Direct Access Scheme) is the way to go. And it's not so much the size that determines controlability, you can get a 450cc or larger bike that would'nt be difficult to handle. Just don't get a sport bike (aka crotch rocket)

Something like a Honda CB600 would accelerate smoothly and wouldn't be too much to handle, and wouldn't have the hair trigger accel like sport bikes.
