We put one of these on our line about 6 weeks ago. IT WORKS!

We used to get two to three calls a day from those jerks, now its down to one or two and they are empty calls. I have not had to hang up on someone in weeks.

I can't wait until voice over IP gets 911 service, when that happens I will go with the services of Vonage. VOIP does not have a directory, hop that it stays that way.

To my understanding, most telemarketing firms regenerate their call lists weekly if not nightly so you wouldn't cut down on the calls for long.

To each his own, by some miracle the only calls I get are from policeman's lodges, etc

at least it's an informative thread, i've always wondered if these things actually worked of if they where just a gimmik. I might buy one for christmas, I get like 10-15 telemarketer calls a day. I usually just hang up on their dumb @sses.

This may make you miss some calls you want since many people assume you are not home and don't leave messages.
If you do this why have the tone at all? No telemarketer ever leaves a message anyway.
2. Just the sound of silence is worth a whole lot to me then listening to a speal.

So for me this was worth every penny.

I have an answering machine at home but we're not using it yet.

Right now I have ALL my home calls forwarded to my cell phone so my home phone never rings. But we're still able to make outbound calls.

So this Telezapper wouldn't benefit me, right?

I agree. My experience is that the good times do not last long. The calls, or dead calls in my case, come back.

Of course, this is about reduction not removal of telemarketing calls. There is one other proven & tested way to do this. Last time we moved, except for friends, we gave our new telephone number to no one. No to the bank, not to the credit cards, not to the apartment manager even - not to a single business we had contact with. Guess what - no calls for almost a year .

Think about that next time you hear "Oh no, we do not share your information with anyone else." Yeah, right.
