My son (13) wants a GC, but I really have my doubts on buying any console based game system. We have fairly current computers for all of us, plus none of the local sources for cheap games have much for GC, mostly PS2, then Xbox.

We shopped for one Wed, but nobody had any of the GC with the Zelda disc, just old stock, and everything I see points to not getting the disc unless you buy two games or get it in the console box.

I know Target hands out copies of the disc with old stock. Also, VGTTALK.com has tons of Gamecube deals.

HA HA!
If you decide to get it, good luck in playing through Story Mode. It takes lots of patience to get through it all. And feel free to PM me if stuck.

I hear this EVERYWHERE but I never really understood. I went through Story Mode on the easy mode with no problem. Some of it was frustrating but I was never stuck for more than a couple hours. I plan on going back through it on the next difficulty. I know, "totally different" but no one ever differentiates when talking about how impossible Story Mode is. I beat it the next day after owning the game (Earning credits to unlock the next chapter is what slowed me down). I found it harder to go through all the Grand Prix cups on different difficulties.

You can also just order a 1 year subscription to Nintendo's magazine, 'Nintendo Power' for $19.95 and get the Zelda disc free. Sadly, people are selling this disc on Ebay for much more. I even saw BestBuy having this game out with their regular GameCube games with clearly legible "Not for resale" printed on the actual cover and they had a $99 price tag next to it. My girlfriend wanted the platinum edition so I tried to get that disc included with it. They tried to make it work on the register, but it kept showing it's own $99 price. We are probably just going to order the magazine and get the disc.

Here's a link to Nintendo's site with detail on how to get the 'free'/'bonus' Zelda disc:

There is another way.
a) register the serial number from your Nintendo GameCube, and
b) register the PIN numbers from your copies of two of the following games: Mario Party 5, Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and/or 1080 Avalanche.

http://www.nintendo.com/productregrules

which is really misleading if you just read this page
http://www.nintendo.com/zeldaclassic/
(had me scrambling for our games)
The only one I would want from the above is Double Dash, so I guess I get none :(

Target has several games at 15% off. $49.99 -> $42.49 (Games include Kirby Air Ride, Mario Party 5 and others).

I picked up Viewtiful Joe for $33.99.

Another deal at Target, this one is a YMMV deal. My Target still has some of the Target Exclusive red blister paks with Animal Crossing and a Memory Card 251 enclosed. They also had Metroid Prime in w/ memory card as well. Price is $29.99. Not a bad deal considering the memory card retails at $19.99.

25% off preowned games + free shipping @ ebgames. Do a google search for the code.

Edit: Turns out it doesn't include free shipping. . . My order of 5 games is $2 shipped

ebgames is having a promotion on pre-orders for final fantasy: crystal chronicles. trade in any 4 non-sport xbox, ps2, or gamecube titles and get a gc-gba link cable and ff:cc for free. expires jan 4, 2004. the ad can be seen in their regular flyers they keep at the front counter.

ymmv on what games they'll take. My local ebgames took any non-sport title, but i've heard that some stores will exclude some games.

I'd like to add that EB will be giving $10 mail-in gift vouchers with purchase of FF:CC.
It hasn't been posted on EB's website yet but the form is already being printed. It's in Janurary '04 EGM.

I went to the Best Buy in Victorville, CA on 12-31-03 and they had the GameBoy Player for $44.99 and they had about 8 BroadBand Adapters but they had no price. The Platinum Wavebirds where on sale for $29.99 unfortunately they had none left.

The $5 GGC coupon makes those sweet deals ;)

Not sure if this is mentioned... F-Zero GX is now $35 thru 1/10/04 at So. Cal Fry's. Good for those who never got the game and want it now :)

Just picked up Beyond Good & Evil at EBGames B&M for $19.00.

Read some decent reviews of the game and figured for the price it was worth it

Circuit City has platinum Wavebirds on sale this week for $29.99. Their website has free shipping, too. Just picked one up to complete my set of 4. :)
