Big KR7-Raid Problem

Powered up my new Abit KR7 for the first time and got a checksum error. Screen improperly detected cpu as 1150 Mhz. Hit delete to go into BIOS to monitor that heat sink was keeping the 1800XP cool, it was. Tried to get back to main post screen and computer was frozen. Reset, didn't post. Reset, got back to main post screen. Hit delete to set up BIOS and got a blank screen with a blue bar across the bottom. Tried to reset several times. Cleared CMOS after each reset. Would only post every other time. When it did post, got the incorrect CPU speed (seems like it sees 100 FSB at the 11.5 mutiplier), hit delete and got the blank screen. Pulled out MOBO, checked cpu seating, reset 2x256 ram, reseated Asus 8200T2, went from 2x80Gb Maxtor on IDE 3 and 4, to 1 HD on IDE 1. Re-cabled Asus 16x DVD, checked all cabling to fan and power headers. Cleared CMOS. Reboot, same result and readings at main post screen.

Figured, what the hell, hit F1 and started to load Windows XP Pro from CD/DVD Rom. The install locked up with 8 minutes left on install clock.

Flashed BIOS with version 6G, got to main post screen, hit delete, got the blank screen with blue bar at bottm again. Now I'm here, looking for any help and assistance. Thanks.

Checksome error may be the CMOS jumper pin reversed, check to see if it is in the correct position as in the manual.
It usually is associated with Ram either not being seated properly or of low quality. Try different slots or just 1 stick.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I checked the CMOS pin, I believe it is in the correct position on pin 1 and 2, closest to the edge of the MOBO. I did reseat the ram, but will try again. I tried with one stick, same results. I am using OCZ 2400 DDR, so I don't think quality is the problem. I even tried rotating the CMOS jumper 180 to see if I would get better contact with the pins. What's really puzzling is that I could get to BIOS the first time to monitor CPU temp. Bad CMOS chip?
