is that NEC model still the king? since I'm going all out w/my HL2 upgrade I may as well blow another several hundred on a new monitor 😉 I'm not interested in LCD.
 
Um, i've had my Sony GDM-FW900 24" widescreen CRT for about 3 yrs now, so i don't think that NEC was ever king.
 
I have the 19" NEC/Mitsubishi Diamondtron 930 SB and it blows all other monitors I have seen away. It does have aperture grill lines but they are hardly noticeable exp. after you have it for a few days.

As far as CRT's go, agreed! Of course I wouldn't even compare it to the smallest sony with xbrite.
