Basically some guy won an Ebay bid on an expensive BMW.
The dealership then decided to renege. The guy posts on the BMW forum linked above about it asking for advice and all hell eventually breaks loose. People from all the world sign up to post support. Some get carried away and harrass the dealership. Looks like a bunch of newspapers start covering it as well cable news channels.
On about page 28 somebody figures out the dealership is scamming on Ebay by using shills. Later they track down that the dealership has done the same before - starts bidding low and if winning bid is too low they tell the winner to F/O.
Huge publicity creates enormous pressure on the dealership. The guy gets a lawyer, the dealership gets a lawyer etc. Looks like the dealership is gonna go through with the sale. Everybody is all happy about the "power of the net".
The guy and his lawyer just posted a few minutes ago - The dealership hired a new law firm and they are canceling the deal and suing the guy for defamation & damages as it now looks as if a million or more people around the world have heard shitty things about the dealership. They put the lawyer's letter in a pdf file and posted a link for all to read.
