Do they sell these tickets in Oregon?
If not Oregon, how about Washington state?

325 Mill..... after TAXES......= about 200 mill or so..
100 friends at about 1 mill each = 100 mill left...
I could handle that.....
Heck might even catch up on my BILLS.......

BUMMER................. BAD NEWS................

You ONLY get 325 Mill...... IF you take the 27 YEAR payout !!!!!!!!!!

ONLY 174 Mill in cash , if you take it in ONE lump sum....

Minus 27% in taxes.....

Heck you ONLY wind up with about 125 Mill in your Pocket.....

Is this STILL a HOT DEAL ???????????

So who's the economics buff who can tell me the difference between Annuity (27-year) and lump-sum? In numbers. i.e. the difference in present value based on receiving 174-mil now and accruing basic interest over 27 years, with taxes subtracted, or receiving 325-mil over 27 years, less interest, but presumedly less taxes.

My friends all tell me to go with a lump-sum then reinvest it. But hey, 325/27 years is still 12 million per year. What the hell am I gonna buy with 12 million per year?

--Ed

And how do people with so much money manage it? Do they hire some underling to calculate taxes and such? Can you trust people to manage finances for you without taking a "little on the side"?

Bah, money is so frivilous. At least it doesn't poop on my rug.

Drawing is going to be held tonight. Im in MD and picked up my $20 worth of tickets while i was running errands earlier. Personally im taking the cash option if i win it. Give some to my friends/family etc. and then just live off of the interest :)

Assuming I'd live for 50 more years, that'd leave 2.5 mil/yr (more with interest of course). Man, I can't even afford Anna Nicole Smith for that kind of money :Q.

$125 million at 3% = 3.75 million dollars in interest.

My economics professor suggested we all buy some :)
