This is misdirected rage.

The FU should be to Bose and dock makers, as their dock was passing on the surge and shorting iPods and Apple was paying out of pocket to replace them. Now sadly, Apple has had to go and screw people with older docks to save themselves, but that's kind of what companies do - operate in their own best interest.

You do realize tons of accessories for Apple iProducts are not forwards compatible?

What a load of crap. The blame lies soley on Apple's shoulders for their insistence on using Firewire for everything. The problem is in the way Firewire charging works on these devices; Bose and other accessory makers were just following Apple's spec, which they decided to change when they started losing money on warranty claims.

You're surprised by this? This is Apple's MO - fuck the consumer, fuck third party developers, our standards are ours and we can do what we want with them.

^ This. Despite the warm, fuzzy outward appearance, Apple is like every other company and will leave you and everyone else in the dust with a flick of their magic fingers. No Firewire on the 13? No DVI adapter for the new LED displays? No matte option for the new mirror-like glassy laptop screens? Blah blah blah. Apple is Apple and will do what they want.

HOW FUCKING HARD IS IT TO FOLLOW THE USB SPEC ? ugh...

Really, your going to blame this on Apple ? Seriously? because the manufacturer can't spend $10 on R&D and 10c on parts to make sure there product wont fuck up an iPod?

Oh and it's up to the manufactures to either use pins 19, 20, 29, 30 to charge or pins 23, 16 to charge

19, 20, 29, 30 is firewire which is 12v
23, 16 which is the usb 5v
