Frozen vegetables and fruits recalled for possible listeria contamination.

"The organism can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women."

List here.

Includes items from Trader Joe's, Safeway, Walmart (Great Value), some Costco, and many, many others.

"Products being recalled may have been purchased in all fifty U.S. states and the following Canadian Provinces: British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan."

I've got a few bags of the TJ's Green Beans in my freezer .... and even have some I brought for lunch today. Had them the last few days and am not really noticing anything. Luckily there's no fruit from TJ's or I'd be screwed.

same. on Monday night GF returned with 3 packages of those TJ frozen peas that she is addicted to. ....scary thing is I left them in the basement overnight because our power was out due to the storm.

CDC has informed CRF Frozen Foods that the government has identified seven people from three states who became ill and were hospitalized due to Listeria.

7 people from 3 states is enough evidence to recall 2 years worth of frozen vegetable and fruit products? Are most recalls based on that small of sample size?

Holy crap. Don't read the Wikipedia page on listeria if you think you might have eaten some of this stuff. Better to just not know.

Dibs on your stuff!

And I appear to be safe ... nothing I've eaten any time recently on that list.

RIP. Been nice knowing you.

I should also mention that we also had cauliflower last Tuesday and Friday then broccoli on Saturday and this Monday. All purchased from Costco and are on the list.
