Big difference in speakers?

No. And there's no difference between a $20,000 car and $40,000-$60,000 cars either. 😛

Of course there's a difference.

Listen to ZV, he speaks truths!

Btw, from my experience, 2 decent ($59ish/pair) name-brand 6x9s will sound much better than even 4 bargain-basement no-name brand of the same size.

BUT :

Going upward from there gives rapidly diminishing returns unless you make some underlying improvements. What I mean by that is :

OEM CD-Deck
4 high-end speakers (let's say, those types that sell for $199/pair+)

will not sound as good as :

OEM CD-Deck
4 decent speakers (again, the $59-$69/pair types)
AMP w/Crossover
10" or 12" Sub (preferably in decent enclosure)

I'm not talking about a bass bumper, but having even a modest amp/crossover/sub does a couple of important things :

(1)- Is actually capable of frequency response at lower levels without excessive distortion (depending on varying factors, obviously, but the underlying truth remains)

(2)- By taking the low-frequency non-directional load off of the interior door/panel speakers, these smaller speakers are free to do what they do best : produce decent midrange and high-frequency response.

(3)- The amp can help reduce how much you have to crank the head unit up, which can result in clearer, less-distorted signal to the speakers.

Is there a difference? Yes

Is there a big difference? Maybe

Will someone notice? Maybe, probably not if there are other speakers(I'm assuming from the size that these are rears?), especially with a 4".

Maybe I should meet in the middle with the $40 ones. This is going in my backup car so I don't want anything high end or near it but want something better than the cheap factory ones.

just because the price is higher doesn't mean its better.....

but when you talking about $20 sets of 4... wow.. OEMs are probaly better then any $20 speaker.

i've always thought components are the only way to go in the front, never less.

Amp w/Crossover + sub. Trust me 🙂

Actually $20 sets of 2. But the factory ones are like the single $6-8 you buy at wal-mart.

They were actually a little better than my factory speakers:shocked:. I had bought a set and put them in a car I was selling before I found the factory ones.

You have to listen to each set. It is not about price it is about what you like.

I might like a 200$ pair, and another guy might like a 150$ a lot better.
