Big difference in performance between OCZ Vertex 30GB, 60 and 120?

I found a really good deal on a 30GB OCZ Vertex. I read on the OCZ site for the specs that the 30GB and 60 are slower than then 120GB. I noted that AT did many reviews and used the 120. The 120 is still expensive -- way over what I want to spend. I could get 3 x 30 GB ones for that price.

Is it worth it to just get a 30 GB version for an OS drive? Or if I were to get 2 and raid them, would the onboard Intel raid controller be enough? If not any links to a decent dedicated raid controller that wont break the bank?

Based on ATTO numbers the 30/60 are the same speed and run at 90% of the 120GB's speed.

Based on CrystalDiskMark the 30/60 are identical to the 120GB save for sequential read/write, which is about 20% lower.

In terms of random read/write the Vertex line is identical top to bottom.

I don't think you really need RAID. It doesn't look like RAID affects random read performance on the Vertex series at all (more or less 0% scaling).
