Fern and werepossum have always been on the conservative side of the fence. And IMO they're both still rational from what I've seen, although we might disagree on some things. Admittedly, the last time that I saw possum, he was doing some serious mental gymnastics to justify his position on some issue, but it wasn't batshit.

And honestly though, I think that you and a few others here don't always help your cause by being so uncivil all the time. Sometimes, people say stupid shit or jump into a discussion with an incomplete understanding of the issues. And when that happens, being attacked and namecalled doesn't change their minds. Quite the opposite in fact, as the ego will tend to step in. Just my $0.02.

I only "attack" when a poster refuses to accept facts when presented to them or they are lying, being hypocritical or trolling. I have no issues with people who have different opinions than mine. In fact I have "liked" many posters posts who are completely different than me, ideologically speaking (such as incorruptible and taj). I didn't point to fern and werepossum because their views were different than mine, I pointed to them because they became irrational and unwilling to accept reality and facts after multiple attempts, something they hadn't done before. I will say that fern has almost returned back to "normal".

But you are right, I can be an asshole at times.

I've seen this happen on a few boards. The weirdest thing IMO is that they keep believing that they're oppressed, and their opinions are being suppressed, even after they're the only ones left. No es bueno.

Trump gives them absolutism. Everything that went wrong in their lives is someone else’s fault. They don’t need to be held accountable for their misfortunes.

It was the deep state, biased media, libtard democrats, Obama and Hillary conspiring with George Soros and the globalist cabal that is to blame.

It’s radial Islam, MS13, kneeling NFL players, and the criminal immigrants that is taking “their” America from them.

And anyone that says otherwise has Trump derangement syndrome.

This is a different phenomenon than what I was referring to. What you guys are describing is group think and while I haven't seen it take over a board completely I have seen it on this board before by both sides of the political spectrum. Luckily, we have enough posters and enough rational people that when group think occurs there are people to call it out (they don't typically say people are engaging in group think but rather they point out either, peoples irrational thinking or hypocrisy on a subject).

In my lifetime I have never seen the media so consistently venomous and derisive of a President. From Day 1 to now. If Trump had ANY real power to control the media or the narrative he would certainly have acted on it, he hasn't because our Constitution will not allow it. In the meantime, if everybody is calling him a shitbag, it is hardly surprising that he would respond in kind.... he has always been like that.

Regarding freedom of speech and freedom of the press, read the full Rolling Stone article referenced below in its entirety. It is the best piece of journalism I have seen from the mm in a long time. We have the mob calling for unaccountable billionaire control of the press and of speech...... that path has always and will always lead to dystopia.

Well, the mainstream media tends to lean left. As far as I can remember, every Republican President has been subject to their wrath. If it's escalated, it's more likely because of the things Trump says and does on a daily basis. He gives them constant fuel. It's on Trump.

The mainstream media, here in objective, observable reality, tends to lean to the BothSidesDoIt™ talking point so that they don't lose a huge chunk of their audience, and their ad revenue for selling reverse mortgages and dick pills.

That the US Republican party has become more and more unhinged and reactionary over the past 30 years becomes harder and harder to cover for, so sometimes, there's just no, "well, there's a Democratic politician who shouted out loud, during the President's speech, that he's a liar". Or, say, a Democratic Senator who brings a snowball into the Senate chamber to scientifically prove that climate change is a libtard/BigScience™/Chinese hoax.

The mainstream media is as centrist as you'll find. For every lunatic elected Republican, it'll go out of its way to point out a liberal blogger with 10-12 readers, to point out as a direct comparison to just how bad BothSides are.

The whole "liberal media" BigLie that provides cover for the lunatics in the Republican party is hilarious, and utterly ridiculous, for those of us stuck here in objective, observable reality.

BothSidesDoIt™ is the default mainstream media position, except when some massively fucking stupid Republican goes and does something massively fucking stupid. And then when the media points and goes silent in an attempt to not upset the audience, screams and spittle erupt about just how biased the "liberal media" is.

Keep on keepin' on.

Wow! That's a pretty big diatribe you went triggered into, based on a small statement from me. I'm not worthy of having you type so much. ;)

Oh my god, I had a thought that doesn't fit on a bumper sticker! I'm so triggered! You done did upset a libruuul because I typed multiple sentences!!!!!!!

#Libtard, amirite?!?

Modern US conservatives are clearly brain damaged from the bullshit they've been trained to repeat.

But, like I said.

Keep on keepin' on.

Your handlers smile every time you repeat the talking points you've been trained to recite, instead of thinking on your own.

So there's that.

Sometimes the best one can hope for is to be a bad example for others to use as a teaching moment.

--"I want to thank you for everything that you just said. It was truly wonderful!"
--"Why, thank you!"
--"Yes, I was just teaching my children about the dangers of ignorance and the importance of cultivating a rational, open mind, and what you just said was a perfect illustration of the type of person that I don't want them to be!"
