Currently i have old 17 inch crt monitor.
Since i'm about to get whole new high end rig i'm thinking to replace this monitor
with 19 or 22 inch Mitsubishi-Nec diamondron. What monitor gives less eye strain?
I'm spending a lot of tiem in front of my comp so it is a concern to me.
22 inch monitor is very very expensive but may be i should consider buying it
if it is much healtier?

Well, I think if you compare good quality 19" and larger monitors there is not going to be much difference, assuming one does not have a lot more performance then the other. I own two Mitsu Diamond Pro's (a 900u and a 2040u) and a Sony G520p among other lesser CRTs. I'll just compare the Mitsu's though since thats more of an apples to apples thing.

There is not a huge difference in the eye strain levels. Neither of them gave me much. The 2040u is a better monitor though. But as far as image quality its not a huge difference. Though it can run1600x1200 at a higher refresh rate then the 900u. But there is not a huge differenece (if any really) in the eye strain they cause, which is not much in both cases.

I think your eye strain levels would be the same wether you went with the 930u or 2070u (both are the current versions in 19" and 22" respectively). And you would probably be quite bit better off then with your old 17".

Having said all that, I got my first LCD last year (a Samsung 192t) and prefer it over all my CRTs for everything I do including gaming :)

Also having the monitors at a lower refresh rate like below 70 can cuase eye strain too.. YOu just have to find the refresh rate you are most comfortable with
