I for one am happy about this. I'm usually worried sick about what "adventures" my car takes when it leaves on its own at night. Now I'll be able to ask the government where it has been.

In all seriousness though this is why plate readers and other technologies need to be heavily regulated. Most agencies that utilize these technologies either don't have documented data retention and sharing policies or refuse to share them for "security" reasons. That has to change.
