Big, blocky shadows in FarCry on Very High

I have an A64 3400+ Claw with a PNY 6600GT and 1GB PC3200 RAM. I'm running FarCry with the 1.32 patch (the same problem existed in the 1.3 patch as well), and am running ForceWare 71.89

I have everything set to "Very High" at 1280x1024 with 4X AA and 8X AF, and these are the results: blocky shadows on the arm/gun. That is not even a playable setting for me, I usually run at 1024x768 with 2XAA/AF, but I thought I would take a screenshot of the higher res just to illustrate my problem.

I have messed around with video settings (taking on and off AA, AF, changing shadow details from Very High to High, changing resolutions, etc.) but still get those damn blocky shadows in the pic.

I know someone posted the exact same problem as this maybe a month or two back, but I can't find that thread and can't remember if he solved the problem. Any advice??

Thanks.. dammit, looks like many people are having this problem, and with lots of different Ubisoft games too. Doesn't look like there's a solution, unless I am missing something.

Well, I've got a 6800GT and don't have any probs.

But I'm prolly running a diff version of the game. I have only installed the early patches. The gaming rig is at home, I'm at the office, so can't say what its patched to.

If it's really bothering you, may have to unistall then reinstall (if OCing, set it back to stock). Maybe work your way up through the patches and stop when its OK. Once I get a game to work well, I don't go for the new patches unless I have a specific problem addressed in the new patch.

Good Luck with it
