My big complaint about the show is the psuedo-nerdyness.
A lot of it is goofy and trivial but also very accessible to the average viewer. There is a great example of a superman reference that is kinda out there, but in no way the extreme in depth out there random factoid that a real nerd would be able to reference.

IMO the brother in law from weeds has many many more random extremely nerdy references than this show.

Because the timing is horribly off to allow for a laugh track.

Close - it's filmed in front of a live audience, the timing is off because they're waiting for actual people to stop laughing.

No laugh track, actual laughter.

I don't really mind the laugh tracks. Probably because I'm usually laughing at the same time so I hardly noticed.

Granted, that's not the funniest scene in the show. And it's kind of missing some context.

The show is funny and hysterical at times. Penny is delicious eye candy for us males. What is wrong with you?

Printer Bandit, I'd like my PL6 drivers for the HP 1022 please. kthxbai

Sexy girls are a dime a dozen both on TV and in real life. Though it's enough to get me to pause on something for 10 mins or more it's not enough to get me to actually watch anything. (well besides pr0n but that's different).

Yeah, I was trying to get into it with some of my buddies and it's safe to say we are all nerds. I am - or rather was - a research scientist, and the three other guys had PhDs in various engineering fields. I thought the show would sorta "speak to us" as it were, but it just kinda blew. I'm sure there was some over-thinking expectations involved, but when we talked about the show and saw how it related to our lives we were under impressed. I suppose in reality the show is definitely not geared to the type of people they attempt to portray.

In my life it seems to be as if most science and engineering types are borderline (or not so borderline) alcoholic good ole boys. Not quite like the characters on the show.

Anyhow laugh tracks piss me off.

Big Bang Theory is funny. I like it a lot, and although I must say, "Wow," outloud once or twice a show due to the largeness of Penny's tatas; I don't find her attractive enough to watch the show just to see them.

The laugh track is a necessary evil. Americans are too dumb to know that a show is funny if no laugh track is provided. This was made clear to me when Sports Night was cancelled after two seasons.

Babbles, why are you trying to find you and your friends inside the show's premise? In terms of face-value, it's a fantastic show that myself, my girlfriend, and my friends can watch and enjoy together. I strongly dislike Star Trek and Star Wars, but I still find the show completely entertaining. :p My friends get the Star Trek references and I don't, but it's still pure awesomeness!

If you "[talk] about" a sitcom "and [see] how it [relates] to [your] lives," you're doing it wrong.

Also, it's not laugh track; it's a studio audience.
