Cool! I haven't seen any live rattlers this summer. Usually they are out and about with the monsoon humidity.

I'd much rather get bitten by that thing rather than a baby rattler...but that would scare the poop out of me.

I remember seeing rattlers at 8-9' on my grandparent's ranch in TX. Those suckers aren't to be screwed around with at that size (or any size, really).

A few weeks ago when I came home for lunch I immediately noticed a huge copperhead right next to Mrs Ned's car. It was the 1st venomous snake I've seen on my property in the 10 years I've lived there, and was one of the largest copperheads I've ever seen.

I took a bunch of swings at it with a hoe, but it moved fast into some thick monkey grass and I assumed it had gotten away; I never saw any blood or anything. About a week later the wife was mowing an area about 100' away, and found the dried up body. My hoe... will keeeell.

I hope that you at least burned the remains just to make extra extra sure the fucker was dead and any evil spawn it might have in its belly died with it! In a pinch WD-40, something any self-respecting man has on hand, and a lighter will work on a non-moving snake. On a snake that is moving it might be necessary to dig a moat around the structure to fill with gasoline and burn it all down to ensure that you got it.

Bro killed one on his property a few months back. "Hey, what's that bulge."
