Big Apple Sale

I went by the Apple Store site and they have a heck of a deal going on refurbs. They have a 12 in PB for $999. The first to break the sub-$1000 to the best of my knowledge. Plus, some great deals on refurbed G4 ibooks.

Not too bad. Especially for under $1K, but the one you're referring to:

PowerBook G4 867MHz/256MB/40GB/Combo/E/Aluminum/12"TFT - Refurbished

is at least 2 generations/models old.

I think the one for $1199:

PowerBook G4 1GHz/256MB/40GB/Combo/E/Aluminum/12"TFT

would give you more bang for the buck though.

I've been eyeing one for school, and the 12" PB would be perfect.

Best deal they have at school right now is the PowerBook G4 1.25GHz/512MB/80GB/SuperDrive/Gb Ethernet/Aluminum/15.2"TFT/etc... for $1749. Unfortunately, I don't have enough right now to get it so I'll probably have to get the 12" PB instead. 🙁

Late last year I bought a new (not refurb) 933 MHz PowerBook at Amazon.com with free-after-rebate iSight webcam for $1094 shipped. This earned me a $100 Amazon GC, bringing it down to $994, and I fleaBayed the webcam for $125, and from Apple, purchased a refurb Airport Extreme card and a copy of Panther for about $100. Net price: $969 for everything.
