I see the commercials starting tonight and think to myself, when were they not .99 cents? I think these came out a year or more ago and they've been .99 cents ever since?

After visiting that PETA site that had the free Vegie Starter Kits I think i'll pass. Plus I prefer food not handled by kids that couldn't give a crap what the customer is about to digest.

no, that's where you are wrong: they do give a crap (in the more literal sense). haven't you seen "fight club?" man, if i were working at a restaurant and were pissed off, i don't know if i could resist taking a leak in the soup, etc.

This is supposed to be McDonald's "Whopper". Only problem is,
it sucks. Had a couple last weekend (for $0.99 each). That
fried beef patty is way too rubbery and tasteless (other than
the taste of salt). Give me Burger King/Wendy's/Carl's Jr or
even Jack in the Crack any day.

McDonalds and Burger King suck! That meat is nasty and unprocessed, it's like they squished it with their bare hands! I only eat chicken-breast products there,at least they don't have any odd sh|t in them.

I suggest you do the same.

Anytime a company has to tell that its good or tasty in the name of the item, i don't want it.

Isn't this "new" burger just regurgitation of the McDLT a few years back?

McDonald's has taken HUGE hits lately to their bottom line with poorly-accepted products. Yeah, they're crap. Their franchisees are pissed. I wouldn't expect to see them at f-company soon, but it's not good.

Has anyone tried the double cheeseburger at Carl's Jr. My favorite is still the famous star. You can find it still for $.99 at most restaurants. The western bacon rocks also!

Na2-C2HMn2P is the chemical compound for Mc donald's beef flavor. What you taste in your big mac is not natural:The processing that most fast -food burgers undergo actually removes the natural beef flavor., i got this from this month Detail mag.

Yes, Carl's Jr. is by far the best, flame broiling is what McDonalds needs to realize is the key.
Too bad around me the Famous Star is no longer .99. But I guess I can live with $1.29. It's just that these places charge .20 to .30 cents for a single slice of processed cheese food. Comeon, lower the price on that stuff or give us real cheddar!

Not to step on anyone's deals here...

but do a little bit of reading on mad cow disease before you go out and eat ground beef from cheap places. Just as a quick FYI, Mad Cow or BSE is generally contracted from eating the meat of ruminants (farm animals) that have eaten protein supplements made from other ruminants. (And yes, US beef farmers still use the bone/offal meal made from downer cows that is killing cows and, subsequently, humans in England. Downer cows are those that have become sick and unsteady on their feet, symptoms that are consistent with BSE.) Now, your average beef cow grazes when it is young and is then fattened up with grain before it is slaughtered. Dairy cows, on the other hand, are fed grain AND THEN PROTEIN SUPPLEMENTS MADE FROM BONE/OFFAL MEAL to enhance milk production. How does this affect the hamburgers you are eating? Dairy cows that cease milk production are slaughtered for their meat. Because they have been fed the protein supplement, their beef is too tough to be used in your average steak so they are ground up into hamburger. I know many of you think you are invincible and that BSE is just some stupid European thing. But let me give you some quick facts that may help put this into perspective:

1. In lab tests, variants of TSE (the mother group of the BSE disease) in nearly 15 different mammals (including cows, sheep, pigs, and chickens) have been found to be infectious to mice, guinea pigs, and chimpanzees.
2. The average incubation period of the BSE agent is several years. So you may be infected and won't know until years later.
3. BSE or bovine spongiform encephalopathy is essentially a normally digestable protein that has mutated into a form that cannot be digested. Thus, it invades the nerve cells of the brain killing them off and forming "holes" where nerve cells die.
4. Common symptoms of BSE include dizziness, blindness, inability to walk, slurred speach, inability to control bladder and/or bowel movements, and deterioration of most motor functions.
5. 100% of confirmed BSE cases have concluded with death of the patient.

So, I am not saying stop eating hamburger. Apparently, there are some farmers which only feed their cows grass and protein in the form of soy beans (I think Laura's lean beef boasts this type of feeding). But you might be better off if you avoided eating hamburger meat at cheap restaurants for awhile until the US govt or FDA takes definitive steps to protect your health. BTW, BSE has been found in Canada and, a few months ago, in a ranch in Texas. So, it is already here.

If you want to read more about the history of BSE, there is a great book called "Deadly Feasts" by Richard Rhodes. Current BSE articles are available at http://www.mad-cow.org. Again, if you think I am just preaching, that's ok. Just remember that ALL BSE cases end in death, and so far, the beef industry has not taken adequate steps to prevent the disease from spreading.

Fdisk2001: I think I've already seen the post, thanks... PETA.

I love beef, chicken, and turkey...mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Carl's Jr. is in the SouthWest (CA, NV, ...). Started in Fullerton, CA. as a HotDog stand, went to burgers and now is by far the best of the fast food burger joints (I even prefer it to In and Out Burger, now I'm gonna get flamed). Closest thing would be Burger King (flame broiled) but not even close in taste. Carl's Jr. has this thing in their famous star, Mayo, relish, and katsup, lots of lettice, tomato, and onion(I could do without) and pickles. There buns are soft and doughy compared to McDonalds and Burger King, they don't look good all squished, but taste better. Wish I could open a Carl's Jr. in Switzerland along with a Lamonica's New York Pizza (Westwood and Brentwood, and I think NY), Maybe along with a Baja Bud's... Have a fast food restaurant with Americanized Pizza, Burgers, and Mexican Food in Europe, serving Noah's Bagels for breakfast, now that would be great!
