Had quite the week with car problems due to my stereo. I'm about to do a big 3 upgrade and toss in a better battery. I'm not a car guy really, I mean I can follow directions and whenever I do something I've never done before I'm extra careful and work almost too slow so I don't f*ck anything up. I read a guide on upgrading my big 3, this seems like the cheapest and best upgrade I can do. I popped the hood on my 2000 Taurus and I don't think I'm going to be able to get to 2 of the cables without getting underneath the car or removing crap to read them. This is a long shot, but has anyone here upgraded the big 3 on a Taurus? The pics I saw it was some sort of Toyota and everything looked easily accessible in the pics. The sites I'm seeing Big 3 guides, none are really getting into the difficulty level of it. I ordered some 0ga wire and a 0ga fuse block with a 200 amp ANL fuse. Way overkill for the amps I'm running in my trunk, but with 0ga I'll never have to worry about it again if I ever decide to upgrade my amps. Also 2 of the guides I looked at they totally replaced the wires, the other 2 they said to leave the stock wire and add the 0ga on top of what's there. Any reason I'd want to leave the small 8ga at all?

I'm also looking at AGM batteries, these seem to be what most people recommend. I go to the Drive In theater and would like to have something that could power my stereo for 2 movies, or at least 1 without me having to start the car. I'm not really interested in putting a second battery in my trunk with a relay. I'm currently looking at the Kinetik batteries, is expecting to get one that can power an 800 watt stereo with the car off for 1.5-3 hours unreasonable? I know deep cycle batteries are better at being drained and not taking any damage, but I've read they're not great for starter batteries. I know with my current battery there's no way in hell I could run my stereo with my car off for an entire movie without killing the battery.

if anyone has .02 they'd like to add here...
