The next gen Tundra is supposed to make domestic lovers cream their pants (5.4+ liter DOHC V8 based on the new 4.6 in the upcoming LS/GS, heavy duty versions, hybrid versions). But given the pricing of the new Tacoma, the new Tundra is gonna be an expensive beast

Amazing how that Ford video website goes after everyone BUT Nissan Titan, isn't it?? ;)

I own a Nissan Frontier now. Over 7 years old, the only thing I've had to replace on it has been the plugs & wires, and the A/C compressor (due to the clutch magnets going out on my original one). It still starts first crank, irregardless of the weather, and rides like a champ. I'm going to give it another year or two, then look at buying a Titan.

Why? Because all these Ford fanboys that talk about being "built tough" still can't explain to me why their fords spend more time in the shop than my nissan. Dodge is getting rid of their 7 year warrantee (at least that's the last word I heard, and possibly the dumbest move daimler-chrysler has EVER made!!), so what's the incentive for buying one of those, unless you need a hemi?? I used to be a chevy fanboy, but after owning a couple chevys that were nothing but trouble (electrical, paint, etc), I'm shying away from them now. The only selling point that Toyota has ever had has been their claims that their vehicles will last so much longer than anyone else's (remember all the commercials with people driving gazillion mile toyotas??), but I STILL haven't found a toy that I've felt comfortable driving.....it's like they're made for little people that are 5'6" tall, and 150lbs or less (hmmmmm.....they are japanese, huh? guess they ARE made for little people!! ). Shoot, any vehicle will last you a gazillion miles, if you meticulously take care of it.
Nissan designs trucks for full size people, and they build quality. Like any new vehicle class, or re-design of a vehicle, anyone with any brains expects the first ones off the assembly line to have some bugs, and waits until they get worked out. I figure by the time I'm ready to buy, the Titans will be as good as they'll get. :)

Oh yeah, and the honda "truck" is nothing more than a gimmick. I don't consider that thing to be any more of a truck than the old subaru's that were a car with a bed on it (can't remember the model name now). They talk about how it's 4 wheel drive, but from what I've heard, they're front wheel drive, with the option to go all wheel.......so how's that 4 wheel drive? If it doesn't have a full frame, it ain't a truck, and that thing is nothing more than a pos honda wanna-be.

Honda, Toyota, and Nissan are serious. I think as the Titan and Tundra develop, they're going to give GM just as much trouble as Japanese autos have.

Remember, when Japan first entered the sedan market, no one took thems eriously either. Give them time.

Actually you're wrong. The video does address the Titan.

Yep, another generation or 2 and a 3/4 ton version will pretty well hammer the nails in Detroit's coffin.

the ridgeline came out on top in consumer reports:p

but truck owners tend to be even worse then those soccer moms who buy offroad vehicles to bring little timmy to school:p even more full of sh*t are they. penis extention + they tend to be jackasses. its like get real..more torque? pull a tree stump within the last year or something? fat chance.

As much as I dislike most Japanese trucks....Toyota makes so badass trucks! I think I would take a tacoma over a F-150 anyday!

I'd seriously consider one if it were primarily rwd with an option for 4/awd. As it is now, it's just a minivan with a bed.

Yeah, it's some sort of weird hybrid unibody, isn't it? Wanna-be truck, imho.

Actually you're wrong. The video does address the Titan

Sorry, missed that. I watched about 2 minutes of the drivel that guy was putting out, then stopped because it was making me nauseous! Geez, it's pretty sad when they try to make it look like some sort of scientific study, and it's nothing more than an infomercial for Fords.

The ford commercial I get a kick out of is the one where they talk about how much greater their truck is, because they use 6 bolts to hold the bed on, versus 4 that other companies use. They want you to think their truck is soooooo much stronger because of two more bed hold-down bolts. Okay.......but on the other hand, if you're using crummy quality bolts made from inferior steel, you'd have to use 6 instead of 4 too, wouldn't you??

Oh yeah, and I guess I might qualify as a Nissan fanboy.......but at least I'm not like 95% of the people here in Texas, that think that if you're not driving a Ford, you're not driving a truck. Yeah, whatever!!

Do you mean the Subaru Brat? It was the one that had 2 seats in the bed facing backwards.

minivan comparison is not right. its more like those car based suv's like the monaros and lexus rx300 and toyota highlanders...cross over vehicles. and obviously those aren't sh*t cars for what people use them for. and they are still considered suv's even though they don't have the truck frame. the truck frame is not suited to what people ACTUALLY use such vehicles for. not what they fantasize about..oh i'm gonna drive around the grand canyon dragging logs and gravel:p

I was going to take offense with this since I love my Toyota Tacoma 4-door 4X4, but then I am 5'6" and less than 150 lbs.

what? signs for the legally blind? i've seen realtors get out of their small cars and put up those signs. they aren't made to be impractical.

only truck u could get away with would be a lincoln blackwood.. for the tackiness factor i guess. but still luxury...ish.
