I would say the Small Pox and Polio vaccines come very damn close to this level of immunity. With Small Pox we were able to eliminate infection through vaccination that the virus was eliminated and we no longer vaccinate for it. The Polio vaccine has been so effective that it essentially has eliminated wild polio infections in North and South America. The only remaining cluster of wild polio infections is in Indian Sub-continent.

Nope. An older version of the polio vaccine did, but it's no longer in use anywhere that I'm aware of. Closest currently to sterilizing is HPV, but even it's not a guarantee.

This isn't really accurate. The vaccines reduced the spread and transmission rates, which slowly brought the numbers down, just as most vaccines do. It was time coupled with the vaccine that brought it close to such levels. (About 40 years for polio, and 184 years for smallpox).

Going by the news coverage you'd think Biden died.
I swear, when the media wants you dead, they really want you dead.
But watching the coverage of Kamala Harris reminded me of how much I dislike Kamala Harris. Can you imagine Kamala Harris as president for the next 2 years? Meshuggeneh!
The idiotic repeated over and over hypothetical questions (the were clearly answered) during one of the press conferences were ridiculous. Have reporters lost their Fn minds!

Yeah the questions in that press briefing were dumb. Like how wasn’t Karine and the Dr not fully transparent and clear with their statements?

I've been very careful and I caught covid last week. The current variant is highly infectious. Fortunately my vaccine knocked it down to two days of mild fever and forced watching of about a year's worth of netflix in the last week.

Not too far off my experience, but the lethargy lasted longer than 2 days. I either caught it at the dentist or at an outdoor concert (where I didn't wear a mask, so I guess I could have been more careful there, but it was an outdoor concert...)

I've had a few coworkers get it lately, none of them even missed work or even sounded bad. All vaxed and boosted.

ETA: they worked remote.

Yes. Although at least one got it at work in a meeting, like 100 people in a meeting and the vast majority got it. Makes me very thankful I'm about 95% remote still.

The way COVID has become endemic like the Flu, it may be better to come into contact with it on an annual basis. To maintain a healthy immune response.

I'll get it doing something more fun than driving to and from work. I also prefer my immunity from a glass bottle.

True or false has Joe Biden used the same childhood story as the cause of 2 different ailments? Simple answer. Maybe not for you, but it should be simple.

True or false, have batshit right-wing nutjobs like yourself repeatedly claimed that COVID is a hoax and the vaccine is "experimental gene therapy?" Simple answer. Maybe not for you, but it should be simple why your hypocritical and extremist ilk have no credibility with normal Americans.

JB is a fuckin warrior! Man his age doing that job… most of us would be curled up in a ball from the stress alone. Throw in some int’l travel, couple cross-US jaunts... He’ll be fine.

I’m prolly gonna catch Covid in Cleveland next week. Heading to the RATM show and RnR HoF on a 3 day vacay. I’m vax’d & boosted but my 62 years and MS wildcards…

No, you can’t have my stuff!

Polio Vaccine Effectiveness and Duration of Protection

The CDC says that 3 doses of Polio vaccine are 99% to 100% effective. I would say that 99%-100% is fairly effective. Are the CDC numbers incorrect?

I look at my children's immunization records and they both received 4 doses of Polio vaccine over a period of 5 years.

If the COVID diagnosis doesn't help him politically, he always has asthma and cancer to fall back on or whatever other made up event.
Am praying daily for your car accident. Am an atheist, but hey, you never know...

True or False is John Miller really the former Presidents publicist or is John Miller the former President?
Don has denied it is him.

Meanwhile republicans are masturbating and picking out new furniture for the Oval Office.

Well, too bad for them he'll be over the sniffles in no time.

I know scores of people that have had omicron, almost all vaxxed, (most not elderly tho) and the symptoms were nearly universally mild.

Only person I know who went to hospital was an unvaxxed 50yo back in Dec.

What did she do now?

I am not going to lie. I was sorely disappointed in her choice of a Biden running mate and still am.

Am I correct in stating... they haven't even updated the vaccine yet?
Not sure further boosters against COVID-19. As in the original 2019 strain, is going to help you.

They are in the process of updating the boosters to be ready for the fall.

Personally when I was recently visiting my PCP we talked about me getting a 2nd booster. However we did decide it was better to hold off because getting another booster of a earlier strain wouldn't be really helpful.

Not to say your Dr is wrong this is just so there is no confusion.
As of now everyone will be eligible for the variant specific booster that should be available in the fall regardless of when they had their most recent by shot as in there is no waiting period between old booster & new booster.
