Not as aggressive as Republicans. I mean, it was less than 10 years ago most leading Democrats wanted a wall and were tougher.

So you agree that democrats aren't soft on immigrationi

I mean, obama made big changes in restricting immigration. Including a huge addition of cbp agents.

That was then this is now. Back then Democrats called it illegal immigration. As you know, immigration and illegal immigration are mutually exclusive. But back then under Obama Democrats were much, much more aggressive. I wish they would return to that.

edit: Here is a good article on the Democrats move away from agressive prevention and views of illegal immigration:

Meh, they're still tough on it. Right-wing had gone so far right that rubes don't know what's going on. Surely, youre not one of them.

Quote what you think isn't accurate.

That Democrats are tough on illegal immigration. Theyve softened quite a bit in the last 10 years. They dont even call them illegal immigrants, but rather undocumented immigrants. As though they left their passport at home. But we'll see what Biden does. He's certainly on the right track re-opening Trumps detention center for children.

So, in the factual review of things, you would agree that the republicans view of democrats immigration policies isn't accurate.

No, not entirely. Just like Democrats view of Republican illegal immigration polices arent entirely true either. Unless Biden changes course. Id like the Democrats to put their views of illegal immigration back into their party platform from 1996:

Today's Democratic Party also believes we must remain a nation of laws. We cannot tolerate illegal immigration and we must stop it. For years before Bill Clinton became President, Washington talked tough but failed to act. In 1992, our borders might as well not have existed. The border was under-patrolled, and what patrols there were, were under-equipped. Drugs flowed freely. Illegal immigration was rampant. Criminal immigrants, deported after committing crimes in America, returned the very next day to commit crimes again.

You do realize that ‘undocumented’ is the correct term and not illegal, right? It’s weird that conservatives want to purposefully use wrong terms.

This isn’t about who should stay and who should be deported, it’s just about basic facts.

Do you agree a misdemeanor is a crime?

Obama was tough on immigration, and the Republicans still refused to work with him on any common sense immigration reform. I think the Democrats have realized that the Republican party has zero intent to negotiate on anything and are just obstructionists, xenophobes and jingoistic white nationalists. So fuck them. And they'd be correct.

Correct, the GQP has become the party of extremists, so their faux concern over the opposing party is just laughable at this point.

What misdemeanor have they been convicted of?

Crossing the border and illegally entering the United States. Duh.

edit: I ignored the convicted part. Rarely is it convicted, but does that mean they didnt break the law. Or there a distinction to you?

I said accurate, not "truth". We know what truthiness mean to GQP.

You do realize there are numerous reasons by which someone can cross the border without the requisite paperwork that are totally legal, right?

By your standard you want to call them illegal immigrants even though you have no idea if they have illegally immigrated or not. This is factually wrong as you’re obviously incorrectly labeling a whole bunch of people. Undocumented correctly describes them because it acknowledges we don’t know if they are here illegally or not.

Isn’t it better to use the more accurate term?

Have you ever had the feeling you have entered into a conversation with someone who lack a basic understanding of everything but is completely oblivious to that fact?
