bicycles

im a student and i just moved to a small town and everything is really close...i was thinking about getting a bike to get around town instead of driving (save gas money and get some exercise)...i dont know where to get a new bike...should i go to walmart and pick the cheapest one up or what...are there anythings i should keep an eye for

$100 or less, you are looking at wal-mart, k-mart, or whatever discount store. You get nothing fancy and it will get you around town.

Get a used one then.. I got a used Trek 820 Singletrack from Craigslist for $120. Spend more on a better bike lock if you want to keep your bike for more than a week. With all the circular lock trouble going on with U-locks now, buying a good lock is not easy 🙁

DO NOT get a department store bike!

If you have little $$ to spend, you are MUCH better off trying to find a good used bike than buying some POS department store bike.

All you bastards saying to spend a little more. Even a department store bike, around the time when school starts sells bikes for like 80 bucks. A little more for a good used bike is 150+. Thats like twice what you'd spend. That aint a little more.

<== currently saving for soemthing like a used specialized for 150-200
