Bicycle storage in garage

waggy

No Lifer
Ok since there are many people that are avid cyclist i figured here would be a good place to ask.

i would like to be able to store my bike in the garage without having it sitting in the middle of the floor. I have seen some nice racks that bolt onto the wall that will hold 2 for like $140 or so.

I was hoping someone had some plans or ideas on something cheaper. I would like something where the bikes are out of the way but still easy to get down. so those hooks off the ceiling are not good. its to hard to get them off and on. Also would like something easy enough where my wife can get hers down without to much effort (she is petite 5'2" heh).

1. Put A large hook in the ceiling

2. Hang bike from front rim.

If that's too hard, go to the gym and get some muscle.

The hook would do the job and it's cheap. I built a wood rack similar to the ones that bolt to your wall.. Probably cost me about $40 total for wood. I just made arms that stick out and notched them out so the top tube would lay in the notches. Works really well, and it was cheaper than buying a pre-made one. If I get enough motivation to go down to my workshop, I might take a pic or 2 for ya.

guess you missed easy to do.

again the wife is 5'2 and the ceiling is about 10ft up. i do not call getting a ladder to get bike up easy.

i would like them out of the way so we can park the car in but still be able to get them down to go on rides.
