I'm taking a class on the life of Jesus, and one of the things I need to do is write a 15-20 page paper on one section of the Gospels (say one parable for example). What do you guys think would be a good one?

Anything on the nature of the Kingdom of God.
Ex: Matt 13.44 (My personal favorite).

are you going to a xian college?
the life and teachings of jesus class i took was more from josephus than jesus i think... :)
i'd do it on his treatment of and attitude towards women. there should be a fair bit of room for debate there. :)

Yes it is a 'Christian' college, but I really don't like that usage.

what, it being a 'christian' college, or it being a 'xian' college. after i typed out the word christian 1/2 million times in college i set up word to autocorrect xian to Christian. sometimes i forget that Anandtech doesn't do the same :) hope i didn't offend you.
>>... and what do you propose his attitude and treatment of women was?
i think he was a pioneer in his day. he treated women fairly, justly, and as individuals, not as people solely in relationship to their men. (they are ppl not just 'the wife of....') it's just too bad (understatement) that somewhere along the path the "wives submit to your own husbands" line became all that christians remembered about the new testament's discussion on the topic of women.

I think I'm going to do "The Rich Young Man"

Matthew 19:16-30
Mark 10:17-31
Luke 18:18-29

Wow! Well, you must understand why I thought you implied that Jesus was a sexist: you started of with "xian". LOL. I was about to charge you with horrible exegetical study.

no, I took xian to mean christian (I'm not really offended by the use of a X instead of christ), but it's more the use of the "christian" label all together. It just makes me think of the whole christian sub-culture too much. "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick". Dang now I've got myself thinking I should change my topic

has anyone read josephus? i bought his complete works of fleabay (an 1860's edition) it's awesome! it's quite interesting to see how little popular thought has changed over the last 2000 years.
