BH6 Version 1.1 - Will it support a PIII 1ghz (100fsb)

My BF6 just died and I have a spare BH6 which is the version 1.1. Will this support the PIII 1ghz (100fsb) with the latest Bios. Also, if it will want is the highest multiplier that It can handle. Thanks

I was informed by info in ABIT website or somewhere that the BH6 version 1.03 will only be able to supply power to the CPU enough for coppermine 700 MHz after BIOS upgrade. I am now running a 66MHz bus celeron 700 @ 100MHz bus or 10.5x100=1050 MHz and it is rock solid with a PIII intel HSF. I guess we need a good quality power supply of 235 watts and up, so if you will use PIII 1.0 G at default voltage in the BH6 vers 1.1, I would say you're ok. But making sure you have good PWS.

I am running a Celeron 1ghz on a BH-6 rev 1.0 at 124FSB (1.24ghz) no problems.

Celeron 1gig, BH6rev1.02, 235w Enhance psu, SS bios- no probs.

Your board should support any non-tualatin 66/100fsb slot1 or S370 Intel processor (on a slotket) regardless of multiplier. All intel procs from about 300 on up are multiplier locked, they ignore any bios setting. disable "speed error hold" in the bios for overclocking....

i think it will be fine. even if the bios recognizes the speed incorrectly, just disable the cpu alert from softmenu and boot normally. i have got a 1.2 celery (tualatin) with a modified slotket to work on a bh6. it posts as a messed up speed, but wcpuid reports 1200mhz.

I too am looking to upgrade an old board of mine. The abit bios info says that the highest cpu supported is a 700Mhz. Is that just for the Pentium? A couple guys have mentioned that they are running celeron 1 gigs and greater. I definitely want to get the fastest processor that will work on this board. Are the celerons favored over the pentiums because of the ease of oc'ing?

No, its because they are much cheaper. 100 MHz FSB PIII's are not cheap.

What slocket can I use for the Celeron 1.0? One of the slockets said it would not work with Tualatin processors. Also what is the difference between the Celeron 1.0 and the 1.0A? They both seem to have the same specs.

Ahh, it looks like the Celeron 1.0A has 256k L2 cache and the 1.0 only has 128.

Will the 1.0A hook up alright to the slocket and the BH6?

The 1.0A is a Tualatin. It wont work in a normal Slocket. Powerleap sells one, but it costs as much as a new mobo. There are people that have modified slockets to work with the Tually CPU's. The easiest setup is a Coppermine Celeron or PIII. I have a setup (kids PC) which is a BH6 1.0 with a Celeron 1.0 GHz @ 112 FSB, 1.12 GHz. It runs pretty well.

I'm having a hard time finding a good slocket. The only one I found was a Super Slocket III for 5 bucks. Will that work alright? It says that you can change the bus speed from 66/100/133/Auto. Will I set it to Auto, that way I can set the bus speed on the board to 124?
