BFG Tech 512MB 7900GT

I'm checking out this video card. It seems like a good card, but I'm no expert. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

512MB of memory on a video card is still a waste of money, so why get that unless you've already chosen the very highest performing parts for every other item in your computer?

Not unless you have an X1900 or 7900GTX/7950GX2 card, 512mb is becoming too little.

The Card

It's performance should be just under that of a 7900GTX. Excellent card you've picked out, but for the same money I would get an X1900XT or just buy a 7900GT and save yourself ~$100 for almost the same performance. You won't be disappointed no matter what you decide to do. They're all great cards. You might wait around for the X1900XT 256MB to come out also. That is going to be sub $300 and have almost the same performance of the X1900XT. So many choices!

I have an E6600 and 2G of XMS2 Corsair RAM, I'm pretty positive that my Video Card (an MSI 6800GT) is the bottleneck in my system when it comes to 3D performance.

Thanks for the advice folks, I greatly appreciate it! I think I'll wait for another few weeks and then snag something.

What games do you play and what Monitor do you have :?

Then i could recommend a card worth getting with blowing a hole in your wallet.

Also that card is overpriced and not worth $350 , you can buy a ome X1900XT $312 or retail $320 which beat up a 7900GT at high res with High AA/AF.

The 512, 7900gt is real close to the x1900xt in performance ,and with a overclock equals it or beats it. it's in german but you can understand it-- http://www.technic3d.com/?site=article&action=article&a=280&p=4
