I currently have 3 6800GT's.

1. PNY 6800GT with Nvidia reference cooler Idle/load 49C/58C

2. BFG 6800GTOC Dual Fan Idle/Load 59C/74C

3. BFG 6800GTOC Nvidia reference cooler Idle/Load 51C/60C

For all of you who didn't already know, the Fancy BFG cooler is primarily for show and
really is a bad cooling design. And seems to be a bit louder than reference coolers.

Just for your information in case you were intending to buy one. If you are, get one with the Nvidia
reference cooler and forget about looks.

I didn't really have the choice but mine seems to work fine...

Granted I only have the BFG 600 OC but I have it oc'd to 392/850 and have had it to 400/900 and my temps were idle at 41c and the highest load I saw was 53c...

I understand yours is faster and therefore potentially hotter but my temps seems to be better the most non BFG users report for the 6800NU....

I am happy...It seems the 2 fans from what I have seen are slower speed so even together they are relatively low volume versus some of the nvidia reference coolers.....

I was thinking if heat was an issue I was just going to buy an NV5 anyways...turned out I dont need it...

Edit: I have the same dual fan hsf setup as is on the GT...

Yeah, I was just comparing GT's. If you haven't already, you might experiment and enable the 4 sleeping pipes and 6th vertes shader. Also, as you know, the GT has 1000MHz mem. So, I would think that the GT would run a bit warmer stock against a nu stock.

The bios on a BFG6800GT oc may have the fans running a bit faster by default than the NU oc. Dunno.

I tried all three of these cards back to back and the reference coolers are most definately noticably quieter. Just my findings.

Oh, I would also like to add that I have NO extra case cooling. Just the PSU fan.

My BFG 6800gt has the new cooler, and though it isnt as good as the reference design, but i only get about 68 C load. I couldnt really notice the noise difference over my Leadtek 6800gt. My Zalman is the noisiest piece in my system now (yes, it's rated at 25 db's, and my Tsunami case fans are quieter than it...)
