Hey guys,

First post here at AnandTech for me, be gentle :)

I recently bought the BFG motherboard since the three year warranty had a strong hold on me. I just wanted a simple 939 board and I grabbed one.

I was looking around to see if it supported the Venice core but I was unable to find any information about it. I emailed BFG tech and this is the email they sent me

/*
Thank you for your request. Though Venice is a Socket 939 processor, the answer is not yet known at this time. Please try back within the next 30 days.

*/

So I was wondering if anybody had tried this combo out yet?

thanks

I don't see why it wouldn't be compatiable with a Venice 939-pin cpu. The Venice core is just the next revision of the Winchester core.

That BFG tech is an idiot.

It should work fine. Make sure to update the BIOS to the latest version.

thanks guys,

anybody actually try it out yet though?
I don't want to throw down 200 bucks and it not work you know?

Else I can just go with a winnie, no shame in that

thanks

LOL

OMG that's some horrible support.

Umm, I don't know about you, but I'd be seriously consdiering returning the board if this is what you have for support. An EXTREMELY simple question that REALLY should have a yes/no answer by now and the answer is "try back within the next 30 days"???

3 year warranty is nice and all, but if they don't know if their board supports the most prominent 939 processor out right now or not, I don't know if you can trust their support? It's pretty difficult to buy a winnie these days, so I would HOPE the answer is yes.
