BFG GeForce FX 5500 O.C. 128MB DDR AGP 8x/4x

I picked up the PNY 5500 from Comp USA for $50 on BF. It is on my wife's computer and she runs EQ2 just fine. It O/C'd to 290/443 with no problems. Her comp is a amd 1600+ w/ 1GB pc133 ram. For what you are trying to do there is nothing wrong with that card. I cant speak on Halo but SWG and EQ  .If you can find one for $50 I would say go for it. If you are looking to spend >$100 then you can get more for your money. ( I think BB has the 5500 for $99)

You're going to want at least a 9600. The entire FX line except the 5700 ultra and above was absolutely terrible. Sell your 5500 on ebay, and get a 9600 or 9600 pro on newegg.com. Here are the links.

9600- newegg.com
9600 Pro- newegg.com (and I only reccomend the 256MB version because it's a very small amount more than the 128, and sony keeps saying that EQ2 benefits from that, and you said you wanted to play that)

and heres what you can expect to get off of ebay for your current card.

do you think with my system, i would be able to play games like EVERQUEST, SWG, Halo??

If you mean EverQuest 1, sure you'll be able to play it fine. EverQuest 2 is a different beast altogether. EQ2 will eat a 5500 card for lunch.

SWG might be a bit laggy with the 5500 chipset, but it would definitely be playable if you didn't mind putting your settings on medium.

Halo I think would be pushing that card. You'd definitely have to run on medium settings.

I disagree. See my post above. EQ2 is playable with a geforce3 ti200, although at low settings.

Run 1600x1200 and see how playable it is.

Running a 9700 Pro at that RES and medium settings and play is very nice. 9700 Pro's can often be had for $115 around here.

5500 isn't worth it for anyone that wants to game.
