In what way does it look different than the GT? Looks okay, I guess.....but I really don't care how my card looks. I care how it performs.

Well, according to this particular benchmarks it's 13% faster in Crysis (although GTS is 25MHz faster clocked than GT), plus it has nice cooler. Given current GT pricing I'm certain there will be market for these cards as long as they don't cost much more than $300.

Nice looking card.

Not so sure about those scores.

I get 33.80fps at 1280x1024 with same settings as him which is almost 10 frames faster than his 8800GT and still faster than the 112SPs 8800GTS on Windows XP, which appears to be the same OS he is using.

EDIT: Now it appears he made a mistake and ran the bench in DX10. Things look a lot better with updated results but still unimpressive since even 8800GTS cant deliver near 50fps at 1280x1024 with noAA ... GF9 where are you?

Considering the 8800GT WILL be settling back down to $210 once demand peters out after the the initial demand is satisfied after X-Mas, I don't see the revised 8800GTS selling for much over $275 by the end of Q1 2008.

Even at first ed. 8800 Ultra speeds, it is still too close to last years top end to justify over $300.

Still, I'd consider holding off until we see what exactly Nvidia does for the soon to be released DX 10.1 card. I find it hard to believe they will stay on the G92 core for Q2 high end. They now have significant competition with the 3870 and if ATI gets the job done, the double core 3870 with a 512 memory BUS could be a monster and very cheap for ATI to produce.

Wishful thinking.

So on CRYSIS (and thats just game people...) the GTSv3 is 17.4% faster then then GT (GTS - GT / GT) on 1280x1024.
And it is 11.71% faster (GTS - GT / GT) at 1680x1050...

This tells me that it should be FASTER then the GTX. Since the gtx is less then 10% faster then the GT.... And when the 1GB version arrive it might whoop the ultra in games like crysis. Time will tell.

Anyways I wonder by how much is it faster on other games. Like bioshock and WIC.

I wonder how high EVGA & XFX will take clock speeds. Stop at 700MHz or SSC to 720ish?

GT is a better deal, especially with the revised cooler, but I want one of these. Launch day, fastest stock clock under $350, I'm there!

Any news on how many cards will be ready for launch (Not just BFG, 8800gts in general)?

Well here's how:
http://www.tweaktown.com/artic..._g92_tested/index.html

As far as looks are concerned, it's thicker than the GT and takes up two slots in your case. For this you get a superior cooling solution.

As far as performance, the new GTS will not offer a noticeable improvement over the GT. However, supply & demand and the resultant pricing will determine which is the better buy. Be sure to take into account the GTS will consume a bit more power under load than the GT and may require a psu upgrade, depending on what you've got now.

Well wonder no more! (except about Bioshock)

I'll wait for the Anandtech Review before I make my final decision. We only have one "real" review so far on a card from an undisclosed vendor. However, if these things are priced at $400 a pop, I won't care how good the reviews are.

Totally agree. Only 2% difference in the 3DMark scores?

That's a couple FPS at best, and you know they'll sell this for more since it's a GTS

Don't know, but here's a performance test entitled "NVIDIA G92 Overclocked - GT vs. GTS 512"
http://www.tweaktown.com/artic..._vs_gts_512/index.html

Those tests are all a bunch of smoke, all the clocks are different.

The first link at least shows the two (GT & GTS) at the same clocks = minimal difference.

Unfortunately, a 20% bump in Crysis = 5 fps :(

Me too! I can't wait. The GT and 3870 teased me, but I've held off.
