BFG Doom 3 Bundle

Is it worth the wait for the BFG 6800GT OC and Doom 3 bundle? Do you think it will cost more than the version with just the card?

As if the BFG 6800 GT's weren't already selling like hotcakes...When that package hits stores and online e-tailers, all mayhem is gonna be unleashed. Those things are gonna be impossible to find anywhere.

Plus, Comp-U-Plus doesn't offer the 6800 GT OC. They only offer the plain 6800 GT. For $1 more, you can get a factory overclocked card for cheaper shipping. I'm still pretty happy that I went with the eVGA 6800 GT from Newegg for $429. Although, my first card was defected, and my new RMA'd card is on its way now. I think I just had bad luck and got a bad card. I personally got fed up waiting for my local Best Buy to start carrying the BFG 6800 GT OC.

yeah, same here...best buy is slacking. I've had problems with evga in the past, so i didn't choose them..despite how tempting bundled farcry was.

I was fortunate enough to find one at Best Buy last Friday. I called Compusa, but all they had was the Verto GT. With Best Buy just a mile or so down the road I decided to see what they had. Since I didn't see any bin markers for the card, I asked a tech service guy if they were in. He didn't know, so he asked someone else. That guy also didn't know, but he found someone who did. The cards were under the counter in a locked cage. Only two had arrived the night before and I got one. Someone walked the card up to the counter. Perhaps they were afraid that I would bolt out of the door. 😉 Btw, it was 399.99 plus tax (417.99 total).

Nice! I wish I was that lucky! I'm curious to see how long its going to take my local Best Buy to carry them. They still swear up and down that they have no current time-table for when the 6800 GT will start to be carried by them. I find that hard to believe, since all the Best Buys in California have 'em. But oh well...I've got better things to worry about!

I guarantee that best buy is just waiting for BFG to box up all of the 6800GT/Doom3 bundles. Then i'll probably regret not waiting for the cheaper price and doom 3.
