I got mine yesterday. I love it. Runs hot. In fact I would think the heat issue is more of something to complain about than the fan noise. I play with either my speakers or my headphones (sennheiser hd497s) and it makes the fan noise a mute *hee hee* issue.

Benches for those that are interested.

3D Mark 2k3
3D Mark 2k1

These are all first runs, right after my reinstall, I'm not much of a benchmark fan, I like actual games.

I will say that Splinter Cell (10x7 with 8x ansio) alone makes it worth price of admission over my 4600.

I had the 9700 Pro before, and had nothing but conflicts with it. I'm not saying its not a good card, but I've always preferred nVdia.

I'm satisfied until nv35, which I'll be getting, and putting this into my 2.4ghz system, that I mainly let friends use.

Cheers :)

just came across this posted on Sharkey Extreme:

I put a machine together today... with a 3ghz 800fsb chip, 9800PRO, and 2x Corsair 512mb DDR400, Gigabyte 8KNXP.... running HT and DC DDR... and I totally benchmakred it, and it scored over 5800 in 2003 :/... and about 16200+ in 2001.

how can that be? I figured a system like that would beat mine :/

:D I clicked on your 3DM03 score to look at it, and I had completely forgotten that I still had my score on the ORB that I got with an FX 5200 PCI, the one with 150mhz(300) DDR. Looking at both of them side-by-side was a riot.

nice pickup. You sound almost like me... except I cannot afford to play and test the video cards out there. Hehe. Seems strange how your card was giving you resource conflicts tho. Never heard of such a problem 'till I read this post now. Quite a mystery...

they were just driver conflicts with some games I played. I hate ATI drivers. Their hardware is fast, but they need to find better ways to implement it. Like GTA for example.
