A physics card is a processor that is dedicated to physics allowing your CPU to focus on other things like the AI. Don't buy a physics card just yet. Wait until they are available on PCI-Express slots. The PCI bus will greatly cripple the PPU. It's like comparing an AGP GeForce FX 5500 against a PCI GeForce FX 5500. The AGP version will kick kick the PCI versions ass.

It's currently worthless because Ghost Recon Advanced War Fighter is the only game even worth mentioning that supports Ageia. Even then, it does a lousy job. Very little bang for your money...pun intended.

Wait till the price drops next month to $50 ;)

Wrong, the money is better "spent" in a savings account. You only need 1 video card unless you've got an insane monitor to match it.

In the future, when there are multiple PPU cards (for entry level, midrange, and high end alike), better drivers and game integration, and better system integration (PCI-e, HTX), we'll have good reasons to invest in physics cards.

For now, the PPU is for people who have more money than they know what to do with. If you're a fool and spend your money unwisely (such as if you'd buy multiple video cards when you don't need it), then you'll help the rest of us get physics later on down the road.

Last I saw, SLI and Crossfire do make a difference in framerates, even on monitors that weren't "insane" If you're in the market for a $280 physics card that works in one game only so far, then I daresay you might want a second video card instead...
