I have the system in my sig..

I can only go Crossfire, should I updgrade to a 3870 now and add one later, or just keep what I have?

Keep what you've got, not worth upgrading right now with a fairly good card, when new cards are coming fairly soon. Only buy a HD3870 if you buy 2 right now.

How much does the 3870 beat the 640?

May be worth the upgrade now, if it is by a bunch.

I mainly play Quake 4 Freezetag and Call of Duty 4...

Thanks

Have a look. A 3870 is certainly faster, but I wouldn't upgrade if I had the 8800GTS 640MB, not worth the performance gain in my opinion... not a huge difference. Maybe 15-20% on average?

The 8800gts 640 is 10/12% slower in Call of Duty 4 and about as fast in Quake 4 as a 3870. Quake 4 favors Nvidia cards.

Just give it a good overclock and youll be fine.

Tom's hardware is not exactly reliable.

it can beat it in certain games, and looses in others. Like they said toms isn't reliable, but check tom's overall game FPS in that link above.
