I got this a few weeks ago when it was 222 - 12% + tax at local BB.
Very nice! All games in HQ setting are crystal clear and smooth.
If you can find one, get it quick...
I guess I should cancel my $207.00 MSI 8800GT Dell order :(

WATCH OUT! I was just at Best Buy and pick one of the BFG 8800 GT. When it rang up it showed the original price of $279.99. I told them that the web price is cheaper, but when he looked up on bestbuy.com on their system, it didn't show the $252 price.

make sure you bring a print out of the webpage when you go. That's what i'll be doing after work!!!

252 - 25.2 = $226.8 before tax, with coupon
tax here 8.25%, on origin al amount I think, so 252/100*8.25=20.79 or if original price is 279.99, 279.99/100*8.25= $23.10

so

226.8+20.79 = $247.59
or
226.8 + 23.10 = $249.90

Pretty much exactly MSRP price. Still cheaper than any other 8800GT out there (Dell aside), I believe.

edit: this should be g92 because only g92 have 512 mb ram - older versions 320 or 640.
Besides yes, all 8800GT are G92.

In for one. Thanks OP. I got a BB GC for xmas and this was a great fit. Note Germantown, MD still has some in stock.

Also, FYI, it appears these BFGs O/C out of the box into the mid 700s. The default voltage of the BFGs is higher, so it doesn't require a bios mod to up the voltage.

Thanks OP. I picked one up for $252+tax ($273 out the door). They wouldn't combine online price-match and 10% off coupon. In store was $280 and online is $252, so was 10% off already anywway. Good deal.

I got one in store by getting them to price match. I also did not have any problems with the instore website. They confirmed what I told them, and it only took a few minutes to get the sale price in store.

Rockhound1 - If you had read the thread you'd see that it was acknowledged it's been OOS online for a while now but B&M stores carry the card and will match for the same price.

FWIW, these BFGs are reference cards, just factory OC'd. I just played some Crysis w/ GPU @ 725Mhz, and the card got to around 90C with stock fan settings. I kicked up the fan speed with nTune (36% over 29%) and it dropped into the mid 80s. I'm still working on the sweet spot. As for noise, I can't hear the 8800GT's fan @ 36% over my Arctic Freezer Pro 7 yet. I just love the single slot height of these cards.

For those of you using the standard BIOS as your means of controlling (or rather locking at 29%) the fan speeds, BFG has released a newer BIOS for those cards.

WARNING!

This card has problems with cooling due to a bios problem AND the fan itself can be defective!

BFGR88512GTOCE BIOS - Update Version: 62.92.00.18 Posting Date: 12/18/2007 File Size:272KB Description: Update the the thermal senor fan control to reduce the operating temperature of the GPU. This is recommended only for users with thermal- related concerns and an older BIOS version.

BFG Tech 8800 GT OC link: Go to SUPPORT for Bios Update!

On mine which I attempted to install today, the fan motor itself appears to be defective, and it feels like when turning by hand that something metallic in the fan motor is scraping something. It makes a horrible metal scraping sound when installed, too. It's amazing it did not burn up upon installing it. I just hope BB has another one in stock!

BTW, this topic is a REPOST of this thread Original: OOS! BFG - NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT OC Graphics Card

(And YES, I know this is a reposted comment I made in multiple threads about this card. It was important information about it.)

Well guess what... My BFG 8800 GT just broke. The sticker on the fan came off and lodged itself inside the shroud, seizing up the fan. The card reached 109C! Upon cooling down (it was too hot to handle) the fan didn't budge at all. Luckily Best Buy took it back without any hassles. This is the last time I buy a first-gen nvidia reference card. The thing is there's an nvidia sticker beneath the BFG sticker!

EDIT: I should add that this happened AFTER the BIOS update. I guess the increased fan speed is too much force on the glue. Placing a sticker on a sticker is a bad idea.

Hope you all have better luck. I'm just glad it didn't fry the rest of my rig.

After reading those two comments, I'm glad that I returned my 8800GT to Best Buy earlier today. I bought it online when it was in stock and never opened it.

I gave BFG another chance, but that's just ridiculous. Do they not test their cards before they send them out?

It stopped spinning and it's good thing I noticed it because the whole PC was hot. THe card would have fried.

Anyway, I cant really exchange it at my local bestbuy because there is no stock. I just hope they replenish their stock before my 30 days are over. I'd hate to deal with BFG for a warranty replacement.

EDIT : I find out what killed the fan, the OC sticker applied on the top of the fan came off and slid underneath the fins preventing the fan from spinning. Everyone, be careful, if you are planning to speed up the fan, REMOVE THE OC STICKER.
